Water for the Future video

Water for the Future: Sustaining Oregon's Economy, Watershed and Community streaming video describes the efforts of local water resource agencies to meet water demands for the next 50 years in Oregon's Tualatin Basin. The 3-minute video summary and 12-minute video — broken into two (2) streaming video segments — illustrates how local partners are working collaboratively to meet the long-term resource needs for drinking water, agricultural irrigation and in-stream flow in an effort to avoid future water conflicts.

Water for the Future tells the story of why the region’s water needs will double by 2050 and where the additional water may come from. It describes the proposed water supply alternatives and includes illustrations of the infrastructure necessary to sustain the region’s economy and livability.

Six brief vignettes highlight the multiple water needs in the region (municipal, economic development, environment, agriculture) as well as a history of the construction of Scoggin's Dam and Hagg Lake. A separate vignette (title transfer) describes a study of transferring the title of Scoggins Dam and related facilities from federal to local ownership.
